Procurement
Export & Logistics from Morocco
Most of our buyers are in the United States, so the practical question is how oil moves from Morocco to your dock. This page covers what we need to quote freight and what to align on before shipment.
Information needed to quote delivery
- Delivery address type (warehouse, manufacturing plant, 3PL)
- Country, state/region, city and postal code
- Preferred Incoterm, if you have one
- Receiving hours, dock and liftgate requirements
- Whether you use your own freight forwarder or customs broker
Incoterms
Incoterms define where responsibility and cost transfer from seller to buyer. The terms available for your shipment are confirmed on the quotation, so compare quotes on the same Incoterm.
U.S. import considerations
U.S. Customs has classified argan oil from Morocco under HTSUS 1515.90.8090 (general duty 3.2% ad valorem), and products of Morocco may enter duty-free under the U.S.–Morocco Free Trade Agreement when its requirements are met (CBP ruling NY N237743). Duty rates change, so your licensed customs broker confirms the current treatment.
FDA reviews cosmetic imports against the same requirements as domestic products and may examine or sample shipments at entry; accurate manufacturer, importer and product data on the entry speeds review (FDA, Importing Cosmetics). Organic lots additionally need an electronic NOP Import Certificate for every shipment (USDA AMS).
Export documents typically issued per shipment
The industry-standard set for a Morocco–U.S. argan oil shipment is below. The exact documents for your order are confirmed with your quotation.
- Commercial invoice and packing list
- Bill of lading (sea) or air waybill (air)
- Certificate of origin
- Lot certificate of analysis
- Safety data sheet
- NOP Import Certificate for organic lots
- Certificate copies for the certifications that apply to our argan oil, on request
